KARACHI: “World’s longest serving ambassador” Jamshed Marker on Thursday passed away in Karachi.
The veteran diplomat served as Pakistan’s top envoy to the United States (US) and to more than a dozen other countries for over three decades.
Marker was named as the world’s longest serving ambassador in the Guinness Book of Records along with the honor of being titled “ambassador to more countries than any other person.”
Marker, was fluent in English, Urdu, Gujrati, French, German and Russian, was also a remarkably accomplished cricket commentator and has been awarded Hilal-e-Imtiaz for his commentary.
The funeral prayers of Marker will be held at 3:30 pm in Bath Island after which his body will be taken to the Tower of Silence in Mehmoodabad.
