LAHORE: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leadership has opted against forming alliance with political parties from Punjab for the upcoming general elections 2018.
During the past 5 years, the Imran-led PTI has formed alliances with Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT), Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) over several matters, but the party has opted against joining hands with any faction from the province for elections 2018.
According to sources, the PTI Chairman Imran Khan has decided to contest elections from a single platform to maintain ‘party discipline’. It was added that Khan said that parties lose control over matters due to alliances and that such compromises are made which impact party-politics in the longer run.
To this end, Imran Khan opted against an alliance and has excused counterparts from Punjab in this regard.
