HYDERABAD: Tharparkar Deputy Commissioner Ghulam Qadir Junejo on Tuesday presided over a meeting to review the district administration’s preparations for “the conduct of transparent elections”.
He said that the code of conduct issued by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) would be enforced. “All the candidates participating in the upcoming general elections will be bound to follow the ECP’s code of conduct,” said Junejo adding a strict action would be taken over any violation.
He further said that the candidates would have to take permission from the district authorities before conducting any political rally or a corner meeting.
“No political party or candidate will be allowed to set up flags and firefighters,” he went on to say adding the district administration is working according to the instructions given by the ECP.
On this occasion, SSP Tharparkar Imran Qureshi clamping ban over displaying of weapons by politicians and their supporters during their election campaigns said no one would be allowed to take law in his hand.
The meeting was attended by District Election Commissioner Syed Amir Hussain Shah, Lt. Colonel Yousif Jamal and candidates of different constituencies of the district.
