KARACHI: Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar has stated on Sunday while presiding over missing persons case in Supreme Court’s Karachi Registry that state institutions are not responsible for the missing persons in Pakistan.
The apex court judge remarked, “I am certain that my institutions are not behind missing persons.”
IG Sindh Amjad Javed and provincial heads of intelligence agencies were also present during the hearing.
CJP expressed grief over this and stated, “I really feel for the families of missing persons,” he further added, “Not only youth but the aged man of almost 57-year-old are also missing.”
Justice Nisar further said, “If someone knows that their loved ones are no more, it might pacify them, but not knowing the situation is painful.”
On CJP’s orders families were brought inside the court and CJP heard their plight.
Chief Justice ordered the judicial staff to accept the petitions related to the case.
He also directed the law enforcement agencies to establish special cells for finding the missing persons.
On Saturday, Justice Nisar, during his visit to the district court in Larkana had ordered for the appearance of the security heads.
In this regard, a press release issued by the SC reads that some people approached CJP and informed him about their missing relatives with no knowledge of their whereabouts.
