The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa food authority has banned certain Chinese edibles in the province.
The food authority told the media that candies, chocolates and other food products imported from China contain traces of Haram animals.
A food authority official told the media, “the gelatin’s source did not have proper halal certification, which is why we banned the items.”
Technical director of the food authority told the media that such items were still in stores and the shopkeepers were being fined as well.
He stated, “We will take action if the labeling on the packaging is in any language other than Urdu or English. We will impose fines and confiscate the items.”
